       Interview with Adam and Justin.

March 13th, 2005
E: Paint By Numbers... the latest news for you guys is your sign to Rise Records. Have you spent a long time looking for a label to find home?
Adam: Since I joined up with PBN in August 2004 we showcased for Lobster and Fearless. We were also talking with Immortal. We learned a lot in the last six months.
E: What elements of Rise make them a great choice for you?
Justin: Rise just recently signed a distro deal with Victory. So that had a huge impact on our decision. When the record comes out in June, it'll be in stores like Hot Topic, Best Buy and Barnes and Noble... we couldn't have done that alone.
Adam: Plus Rise is based in Oregon and the owner, Craig, is rad.
E: Do you think the band already has a pretty strong tradition to build on with your new support?
Adam: After we got the hearts yanked out of our chest by Fearless we bucked up and decided to make the album ourselves. We knew that the only people we could rely on was us. We had booked studio time at Jackpot! Recordings where I work. Two days before our sessions, Craig called. We were in disbelief for a few days and still were not gonna cancel the sessions, but after talking with him on the phone and knowing some of the bands on Rise we went for it... couldn't be happier now.
E: Will there be any new direction for the band musically?
Justin: We've really been working hard in preproduction with Jake Portrait who's producing the album. I think our songs will have a more mature feel to them but still have the PBN sound.
Adam: Yeah, Jake's been great. We've really broken down our songs and built them back up in the last two weeks... It's gonna sound huge... I'm excited... it's gonna be like Bon Jovi's New Jersey!!!
Justin: More like any Boston album.
E: How long has it been since your last release?
Justin: We did the three songs online with Jake almost a year ago to the date and we've done three small tours on it.
E: So do you think fans are eager to hear the new material?
Justin: We've gotten so many emails and myspace comments since we put it online... we are probably more excited than them. Adam: Justin, you're a myspace whore.
Justin: So are you.
Adam: I know.
E: Do you think there's still a lot more in store for the band? Could it get better, or are you pretty much at the peak of your career?
Adam: As far as I'm concerned we are just getting started. I've toured with other bands and this one for three years and they have as PBN for the last three as well, but now we have a little support, which is all we ever wanted.
Justin: Yeah, despite all the work in the past... the real work is starting now.
E: So what are you doing tomorrow?
Adam: I have a session I'm engineering at Jackpot! Then off to the rehearsal space for some more preproduction... grab a cold beer, shower, take the dogs for a stroll, then lights out.
Justin: Preproduction most of the day.
E: Well thanks a lot for interviewing, guys.
Adam: Thanks a lot.
